    Il Cinema Ritrovato

    From June 24th to July 2nd, Cineteca di Bologna hosts the 31st edition of Il Cinema Ritrovato film festival, 9 days of screenings and meetings in five theatres, as well as open air evening screenings in Bologna’s wonderful main square, Piazza Maggiore, and in Cineteca’s courtyard called Piazzetta Pasolini.

     

    A selection of the very best restorations realized over the year by public and private institutions will be presented both in 35mm and digital formats during the festival. Among these, several films recently restored at L’Immagine Ritrovata.

    L'Immagine Ritrovata at the 70th Festival de Cannes

    L’Immagine Ritrovata is delighted to participate at the 70th edition of the Cannes Festival, taking  place from 17 to 28 May 2017, presenting four new restorations:

     

    Blow-up 

    (Michelangelo Antonioni, United Kingdom, Italy, United States of America, 1966)

    Promoted by Criterion, Cineteca di Bologna and Istituto Luce - Cinecittà.

     

    Soleil O (Oh, Sun)

    (Med Hondo, Mauritania-France, 1970)

    Restored for The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project, George Lucas Cinema Foundation and Cineteca di Bologna.  

     

    L’Atalante

    (Jean Vigo, France, 1934)
    Restored for Gaumont in association with The Film Foundation and the Cinémathèque française with the support of  the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée.

     

    Lucía 

    (Humberto Solas, Cuba, 1968)
    Restored for Turner Classic Movies, The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project and Cineteca di Bologna.

    Film Preservation & Restoration School Latin America

    From March 27 to April 1 2017, INCAA (Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales) and CINAIN (Cinemateca y Archivo de la Imagen Nacional), in collaboration with FIAF, Cineteca of Bologna and L’Immagine Ritrovata, have hosted the six-days Film  Preservation & Restoration School to provide film preservation and restoration training to help safeguard Latin American cinematic heritage.
